Dark Angel, cult classic short movie to be made into feature

Literally a long time ago, four decades ago to be exact, a short movie was commissioned by George Lucas himself to play before The Empire Strikes Back in movie theatres. That movie was Dark Angel, written and directed by Roger Christian. Christian had previously worked on the original Star Wars, and won the Oscar for set decoration. The resulting 25 Minute short movie he created was steeped in atmosphere and ancient mythology. It became a cult classic among Star Wars fans and was thought to be lost forever until a negative resurfaced a few years ago. Since then it has been rereleased on iTunes and several other mediums and interest has been rekindled in the cult classic.

Now it has just been announced the Dark Angel is going to be made into full length feature. The great thing is that anyone can play a part in the creation of this through indiegogo.

CAPTURING A GALAXY: AN INTERVIEW WITH ANNIE LEIBOVITZ

"Han Solo lounges in the cockpit of the Falcon. His head is tilted, his smile is sly, and his eyes betray an ever-youthful bravado. To his right are two new faces — Rey and Finn. They look confident, excited, cool. In the background is BB-8, the ball-shaped droid. He could be powered off, he could be on. He appears curious and innocent all the same. Above them all is Chewbacca, towering as always, but with a grin and welcoming demeanor. Suddenly, Han’s eyes suggest a here-we-go-again wariness, and he now seems almost protective of his younger companions. We’re home."

Starwars.com has posted an exclusive interview the legendary celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. Also revealed is the name of the character being played by master of motion capture Andy Serkis! Head over there now and check it out - Starwars.com

Since then, Star Wars and the toys it inspired have been forever linked, a story that can just as easily be told through figures as it can the films.

New Star Wars Score Will Include the Original Themes

Film composer John Williams has been nominated for an astonishing 49 Academy Awards. He’s won five. His second was for Jaws and his third was for the original Star Wars—and bingo! Right there you have arguably the two most recognizable scores in Hollywood history. Williams has since written the music for all the Star Wars sequels and prequels, along with nearly all of Steven Spielberg’s films, the first three Harry Potter pictures, and—a few more titles chosen not quite at random—Superman, The Witches of Eastwick, Home Alone, JFK, and The Book Thief.
